My I-485 was filed on Dec 1, 2006. I called USCIS and had info pass and they told me that my name check is not clear. I talked to one lawyer and he is going to charge me 3500 for WOM. He has pretty good success rate. I am reading forum where they say it is better to wait minimum 2 years. Has anyone heared any case where wom is filed after one year and it was successful. My priority date is current.

I sent money order for some applications and personal checks for some.
Money Order can be tracked thru' ur bank - call them and ask how. I did and they gave a 1-800 number to call and track - it is an automated system. My money order was thru' Chase Bank

I believe change of status pending works the same way as extension applications when pending - one can continue to stay in the country post I-94 expiration as long as the change of status application has been filed prior to I-94 expiration - so the time spent after I-94 expiration does not count as out of status. Now if the change of status application is denied and the decision comes after I-94 has expired - I believe you have 30 days to leave the country - USCIS would send a notice stating the same as well and in that case one should leave the country as early as possible - within 30 days of such intimation.
I would still advise you to get an opinion from an immigration attorney to be sure that this is the way it works.

I was working on a company A(on H1B visa) and left 7 month back. While working on Company A, I was in a project in Company C through another Company B. I actually joined company B to avoid this chain. Company A released me after agreeing for his cut for 4 month, and then $2 per hour until the project ends. This was agreed by an e-mail between me and Company A. I stopped paying the company after 4 month of his cut.
Now the company A has sent me a mail that they want a confirmation mail from Company B that my project ended. If no confirmation email, then they will send me a legal notice.
Not sure what the employment laws are. Could you please advice?

My Wife wanted to join a school for some course. We decided to apply for FAFSA to pay for School fees. I am not sure whether she is eligible to apply for FAFSA or not.

Since on 2nd July they said they will reject the AOS application, what if they would have done some rejection during that time, and by the time July filers get their application back, it is after 17th of August. In that circumstance, can you send the AOS application back arguing USCIS's mistake and ask them to take it back after 08/17 and would they take it back politely or reject it again.

I have seen people talking about getting approvals with misdemeanors, but each case may be different. Murthy.com forums has a special section for people dealing with misdemeanor issues and have gone through the process, may be you will get some more tips about preparing for the interview there. My company is Acquired too, the New Employer just gave me a Letter Copy
explaining the Merger, NO Official docs were shared with me.
From whom did u get this letter.
No need of new H1 if company 'B's' HR has agreed to continue with 'A''s employees.
1. Get a EVL letter from company 'B'. (This is assuming name of 'A' will change to 'B' or new name.
2. You need to get a "Letter of Acquirement" from HR of new company (I am assuming that the name of the company is changing as well). If name does not change then you should be fine. If you have to travel out of US, you need to carry latest copy of EVL(of new company) and "Letter of Acquirement" along with you. (I went thru these few years back, PwCC bought over by IBM, immediately after the takeover I travelled out of US and came back without any problems(on H1)) this was quite a while back though, you may want to check with your company attorney though.
Note:

I filed my H1 extension in late February and got it approved in mid March. This was not premium processing.
It was the extension beyond 6th year. Extension got approved for 3 years since 140 is thru. My current H1 expires in August and the extension will go into effect from then. I've been with the same company for last 6 years and had no issues.

What's the damage caused to your effort?( apart from deleting threads )
I'd rather help channel his thoughts and energies in a direction that helps IV than ban him.

Have you tried asking Numbersusa, Programmers Guild and your employer about changing leadership? What makes this organization any different? Just because anyone can post anything on IV website to get visibility on the homepage, its not ok to abuse the resources of the organization. We did not create IV to promote democracy or freedom of expression, there are ample of other sites to promote democracy and freedom of expression, you are free to use those resource at your liking. IV website is for a single purpose of achieving the goals we have set for the organization. You can find our goals on the website. And anything that conflicts with our goal will be removed. Its easy to use terms like democracy, freedom of expression etc to defend actions that malign the good effort put in by others. To make things clear, IV's objective is not to promote or preserve democracy/freedom of expression. We have a goal to achieve and we will not deter from our goal, whatever it takes.

Thanks desi - AOS is what I was thinking as well but that doesn't seem to be one of the options listed when opening an account (the firm is Ameritrade - you check out their website https://wwwna.tdameritrade.com/cgi-bin/apps/IraApServlet). Guess they are just not aware of this status since it wasn't really designed to be a "status" and only recently have several people moved to AOS status given the backup for EB3 and EB2 China/ India

First - she files the F-2 and H-4 applications, not you. She can only request a change to H-4 status after you activate your H-1B, if it approved as a notify as explained above. If the employer is filing as an automatic change of status, she should request the H-4 change with you. She will not be eligible for F-2 status after your F-1 ends.

(sucks), and "petition" for June activation on the visa. I don't know what does that mean, but could you please suggest me what should my wife do? i mean my f1 should ends on may 31st. and h1b will start on june 1st. but when should she start filing for h4? i heard that she will be legal once she filed the h4, but i don't know how long it takes for the uscis to know she filed the change of status petition. for example... can she file on may 31st?
or is it even possible if i receive my h1b visa approval on April, and she files for H4 when i got the approval but petition for june 1st activation, same as me?

Guys, I guess almost everybody is done with their finger printing by now. I am wondering what is the status of everybody's I-485 application on the case-status-online website after finger printing? Mine is showing some weird status, so I thought I better check with others.
Most people got changes on the LUD date in a short period of time after their biometrics taken, but no change in the word of status.

I would love to trade places with you if I could buddy, so just relax� on the other hand I sympathize with you, a 2001 PD seems so old to me. Being current is the boon, for you to have to stick with the same employer is the curse.
