"Who's your carrier"?

Mirrors my experience.
Nice link. Thanks. ;)
At my last job, we had a contract with Cingular. After seeing how they treated a client that spent almost $200k a year with them, I'd never use them. It was horrid. I can't imagine how they would treat someone who spent $1200 or less.
I've had Nextel since 2000, and I loved it. Note the keyword there? Loved.
I had Sprint before that, and finally got so fed up with not only their service, but their customer service as well. Made the switch, and was very pleased until a year ago. When they announced the merger, I almost threw up. Since they actually merged, it's been the same crap that I dealt with when I had Sprint. Screwed up billing, ungodly terrible support and customer service, you name it.
It's sad, but when I call them I can tell right off the bat if the person I'm speaking with was a Nextel employee or an original sprint employee. Yeah, it's that bad.
Prior to the merge, 495 of the Fortune 500 companies had Nextel. I wonder how many of them still do?
The only thing keeping me on it right now is free incoming calls. Since U.S Cellular has recently added this feature, I'm very tempted to switch. The only thing stopping me so far is I'm waiting to average up my mobile to mobile minutes. If they are doable without doubling my current bill, I'm all over it.
What does really interest me is if Apple would indeed end up providing access to mobile broadband in their line-up. That would be very, very nice to have since all the cards out there are for PC's with some flavor windows.
As for the whole iTunes integration, I'm with you on this. Carrier first, then the goodies.

Not working for me.
- I added "# 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com" to my hosts
file.
- Downloaded iPod Touch 4G 4.1 firmware, and Shift + Clicked the restore button.
- Successfully put my device into DFU Mode (Power off, plug in, Power + Home, let go of power)
but nothing works for me.
I always get an error code (number 3thousandsomething)
Is there a way I can fix this?
I have the 4.1 file if you need it.
So when you go to iTunes, and do Alt+click, you can choose the file.

It's hard to fathom just how high the Twin Towers stood. You could look up and just be in awe.
I've never actually been to NY but seeing some of the highrises in my city, I can only begin to imagine just the sight of seeing both towers collapse in a spectacular cloud of smoke and tremendous cacophony of twisted metal beams and hailstorm of glass.

And I won't spend extra money on another handheld when I have the iphone and it does have enough games that entertain me (in depth games too though maybe not the latest and greatest).
That's a personal choice. Your definition of in depth is subjective. Mileage may vary.
I think you miss the problem here isn't that people will pick the iphone over the handheld for gaming. Of course if they are just picking a gaming device (and they don't already have an iphone or android), they are going to pick the one designed for gaming that the games they want are coming out for. But that people who might have picked up a handheld for gaming find that the iphone or android they already have is good enough for portable gaming (in some ways better. For example since it is my cellphone, my iphone is with me everywhere so gaming anywhere I want, which is the biggest point of a handheld, it is also smaller and I don't have to carry all the games with me, they're all on my iphone so they all go with me wherever I go. Yeah, there are trade offs, on some games the controls are not as good, but here is the thing. They are good enough, at least not bad enough that I feel I need to buy another handheld just to get the better controls).
That's fine, your not/no longer a gamer. What you do is called killing time.
And here is the bigger problem, smartphones attract enough business away like this and have less people using the actual handhelds, they also attract developers. You might find new games being made for the smartphones that people can't get for the other devices as there is more money in the smartphones... and in the end, the best gaming device is the one that has the games ;).
A sad possibility. Touch will never equal tactile feedback.
Nintendo and Sony need to prove that their devices are so good that it is worth buying them *as*well* as the smartphone the person already has. Nintendo is trying with 3D. Sony is trying to have console like games in a small portable device (I'll say I'm much more interested in Sony's offerings. But I've never been impressed with nintendo's game selection except when I was really young. I really do not get the Mario love here or why people think Mario is any better than Angry Birds, they're both (at least traditional mario scrollers and the racing games) cheesy time wasters that I wouldn't say have all that much depth).
I highlighted your problem in red. This is why IOS games are good enough for you. You've lost your gamers edge. This statement alone is proof of your non gaming affiliation. Since you imply that you are 'older" perhaps you attention span for the more in depth games is just not there anymore.
Compare Angry Birds to Mario? Cheesy?

Hello,
I need a replacement power supply for my Mac G4 Quicksilver (part 614-0157) but all the prices I've seen are outrageous. I am in the process of converting an ATX power supply for use in the Mac but I discovered that I do not have a +25V line. Is there an adapter or alternative power supply that will give me 25V?
These are the specifications on the Mac PSU:
+250VS 4.5A
+250VL 2.5A
I appreciate any help that could help me bring my Mac back to life. It is currently a stylish paperweight.

Another in the "too easy" series. iMovie this time!
We're trying to catch the evil cat.
Kinda choppy because I had to cut it down to ~30 seconds.
3 year olds are not good actors.

Any statistics available for those who have one vs the other by any chance?
See the AnandTech article or the referenced MacRumors thread. The Samsung drive appears about 15-20% faster in some of the benchmarks.

The longer you keep hold of it, the less people will have a Mac that will require the older card (as they upgrade, they'll be wanting an Airport extreme card, or whatever comes along next to replace it).
Your best bet is probably just to pop it in the post to me it'll go nicely with my G3 iBook. I won't charge you anything for taking it off your hands, seeing as how it's Christmas. :p

I was aboard a transcontinental flight to Los Angeles on the morning of Sept. 11, going to a trade show. The captain gave no indication of what was going on in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., saying only that there was a problem with the air traffic control system. As a result, the system was going to be shut down within the hour and our flight needed to return home. We were about 30 minutes out at that point.

That's nothing to do with built-in versus external flash.
Essentially you need to select the dark areas and lighten them, and probably fiddle with the colouring a bit. You could try cloning but they're quite large areas.

I would say it's gonna b worth a nice pile anytime u wanna get rid of it. Around 500 would be a good price to grab it now. It's gonna be an iconic image.

I sure hope not. Plus I updated to 4.3.1....I hope that wasnt a mistake.
If you're waiting for a jailbreak, why would you update? If you have done the SLIGHTEST bit of researching on this forum or any jailbreak forum, you would know NEVER to update until it is clear that a jailbreak exist for the firmware that you are updating to.
If the jailbreak doesn't support 4.3.1, you have NO ONE to blame but yourself.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll be sad to lose my White spectra wraps, but got another two sets (silver and clear) still to use, although still hoping the next iPhone will be released near to my return date (end of June).
I'm trying to pick up a cheap-ish used defender from eBay, as I won't use it other than the two weeks I'm away.
Thanks again.

I am moving into a new home that has in-ceiling mounted speakers throughout the house. I plan to use my stereo amplifier (and a speaker selector) to run the 6 pairs of mounted speakers.
I knnow I can use apple's wireless transmitter - but that is from my computer.
What I would *really* like to do is use my iPod as the music source. I can control the songs playing, volumne, etc from the pod.
So, I am looking for a wireless stereo/amplifier/speaker system that will:
- receive a signal form the iPod
- transmit to a receiver, which will
- output to my amplifier or receiver (and thus drive the sound/speakers)
Any suggestions?

Um. Well, I bolded my favorite parts of what you said. Am I the only one who sees the irony in this post? Tired of a locked ecosystem, and claiming theres no freedom in the US... and then talking about travelling to China... really? You must want to kill yourself while you're in China.
You really have never been there, even russia is more open than the US. The US is a corporate dictatorship my friend. Open your eyes.
But yes the intenet sucks in china, completely blocked.... i go there for work, not pleasure.

That has got to be one of the most irrelevant features I have ever heard of. If there is some sort of Multi-Function device Apple is working on, I sure hope there are more OS X integration instances than iPhoto / Google GPS syncing.
Interesting, yes. Neat, yes. Useful... not really. Apple does have a tendency to turn what we usually see as irrelevant into something we almost nearly rely on (I can't imagine a week at work without my iPod).
