Sigh, I dont like the way Apple configure models to get you to spend more to get features that should be standard.
512Mb RAM and a Combo Drive which probably costs them 50p
Most people ship with 512mb in their base laptops at the moment and as for the combo drive the vast majority of us never even think about burning a dvd. Better to release a cheaper model and offer the user the chance to upgrade than price people out with unrequired features - although obviously a gb of ram would be handy.

Has anyone considered that apple might not be realeasing the wide screen super secret video ipod because it dosn't exist?
lets all think for a second...
1) touch screens are weak, soft, and matte, not iPod at all
2) they get printy and scratched very easily
3) they would go through oodles of batter power
4) Apple would not make the thing bigger just to hold the extra battery
5) battery life would STINK
6) touch screen starts to complicate the interface, goes against apple's easy as pie rule
7) the thing would have to cost a fortune
You're SO right about 1-5 and 7. I mean if touch screens were hard, shiny, battery efficient, and inexpensive then I'm sure game makers like Nintendo would have used them in handheld game systems like two years ago! And they would have priced it at like $150. But we know THAT will never happen.

Well, lets see where would they put it? Between Mac Mini and iMac.... you know in that $200 difference. Or maybe between iMac and Pro Mac.... in that what $300 difference. It seems like the Mac Mini bump and iMac expansion have left no room in the line-up for another Mac. Even with conroes... all speeds, sizes, prices are covered. There isn't room for a Conroe Mac. Period.
Why does it have to go inbetween the iMac and something? How about giving customers a CHOICE at the same pricepoint as the iMac. Lose the integrated LCD for those who have one, bump up the specs a bit and sell at the same price points... See my post above for what I would like to see....

If you're out, you'd rather pull out your iPad then a phone or camera to take a picture? Really?
Well my phone does not have a camera and I may not be carrying a camera at the time.
If an event occurs, then I will use whatever I have to hand at that moment.
If I happen to be carrying my DSLR then I would use that, if I happen to have the iPad in my hands then I would use that.
Again, I see no reason to select a worse device other than marketing.
In the same way, in the old days, your car may not have a stereo, but the deluxe model had a stereo. Despite it only being $20 on a $5000 car.
It was just done for marketing.
Or course, if a nice camera added an inch to the back, or $100 to the device then of course, there is a reason not to.

off switch or not, you have to realize that the more companies will be manufacturing 3D devices, the more companies will create 3D content for these devices
it's a crappy circle...
Who cares if someone creates 3D content for a device? Again, explain the negative here? How does this hurt you as a 2D viewer. Unless they start making 3D only content, your experience should not change.
As much as I don't like 3D stuff being shoved down my face, I also like the choice of being able to view something in 3D, rather than not having the choice at all.
I find it strange how there's so much angst against something that is completely optional to the user. That's like me being annoyed someone else is able to turn on Bluetooth.

Does anyone know how the 7300GT compares to the X1600? I am leaning towards the 20" to replace my 17" rev. A iMacG5, but would upgrade to the 24" is the GPU is a big bump.
Apple has it benchmarked. It is a large jump.

i am sure that there will be NO new iphone 5 at the conference. but apple needs to show something new there, so as a "one more thing" they will introduce the new white iphone 4, and also another new model with 64 GB. There is a lot of work going on that could see the light of day by or at the WWDC such as new MobileMe especially considering Amazon's announcement today re streaming media. Throw in maybe something to do with Apple TV or a preview of new iPhone 5 capabilities such as NFC and it would be a pretty amazing meeting. An announcement of integrated iOS and OSX could be a blockbuster by itself if that comes to be.

They're going to broaden the span of the MB.
The top end spec will be increased probably with core 2 duo, more RAM and disk, bringing it closer to low end MBP but maintaining the price point. Probably keeping it black.
The bottom end will stay the same with core duo at a lower price.
Why this?
Well a reseller telles me 'what people want' is a 13 inch MBP and this would create something similar but far enough away to justify the price difference.
The MB has not really filled the niche of the 12 inch Powerbook yet.
And the delay for delivery for top end black MBs has gone up but not for the bottom end (I know this might just be a supply thing) in Australia.
I don't think so. The C2D and CD are at the same price now, with the possibility that the CD's price will go up in the future. Apple would switch over now and maintain the same board across black/white macbooks.

I think I'll enjoy my iPhone 4 a while longer and my battery life. LTE is not prevalent enough yet, nor are the chipsets able to run low power enough. Mid 2012 is the best timeframe for LTE. Any earlier and you are on the bleeding edge of no infrastructure. The networks and the technology simply aren't ready.
Oh, and the biggest myth about LTE: People actually believe there will be a significant bandwidth improvement. Sorry, but the jump from EDGE to 3G was much more significant than 3G to LTE, especially with 3G running at 7.2.

The edu price for 2gb is an additional 112, how far off consumer prices is that (I know a gig for my lappy will set me back 90 but I'm not up on prices for other people's memory).
Don't forget that 120GB HD. It is a moot point though, the HD is easily replaced in the MB.

Adobe Photoshop is $35 per YEAR or $49 month to month.
Adobe Design Premium CS5.5 is $95 per YEAR or $139 month to month.
Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection is $129 per YEAR or $195 month to month.

actually no, its 35$ per month if u subscribe to a 1 year commitment and 49$ per month if u extens it each month ... what a ripoff

Hopefully when you download FCX from the App store it does not mess with FCP 7, so then you will have everything FCP 7 has and also FCX, best of both worlds.
Yes I know the "pros" want more, always will. I don't consider myself a pro, I commented before on my projects only 30% are paid jobs, while 70% is fun or free jobs I do for friends hoping for some word of mouth to spread. For what I do FCX new power will take advantage of my 8 Core Pro, while hopefully making all my projects look even better. So for an amuture this is great especially the price tag.
Like almost everyone here I dislike iMovie 11 and rarely use it, not even sure I used it for a simple project since iMovie 10 since I disliked that also, though I played with it enough to use it fully if needed.
I'm most curious about the learning curve, I know both iMovie and FCP so I just hope this is an easy transition so my work keeps moving and I want that paid % to go up.

IIRC, it's a feature, not a flaw.
Then how do you turn it off? If it's a feature I should have the option to change it back to how it was. It's pretty annoying and I'm surprised no one else is complaining about it. I understand how some people might like it, but you would think there would be the option to decide which one you want. Similar to changing the rotation lock on the iPad to mute, some liked it and some didn't

After reading this article (http://gizmodo.com/343246/what-to-expect-at-macworld-2008-and-why-we-think-it-will-bigger-than-usual) I think that it's entirely possible that Apple are altering their branding. Also the lack of an Apple logo could be explained by the fact that everyone at the expo would recognise it as them anyway and it adds to the air of secrecy and mystery that they love to use in their marketing.
oh yes, absolutely no sign of an Apple logo here....

Ah good to see that it's not worth upgrading my Core Duo MB to the new one, I think the speed increase wil lbe negligble (comparing a 1.83Ghz CD with 1.83C2D)
Yeah the benefit for C2D is the bigger cache size mostly. That's only available on 2GHz and up AFAIK.
I'd still rather have the new potentially bug fixed hardware though.

Happiness all around about the good news. I look at Microsoft and how they ****ed up lots of customers' Windows 7 phones by over-the-air updates. And since these guys at Microsoft are not nearly as stupid as people on MacRumors would like to believe, it seems that over the air updates just have a huge potential for ***ing up someone's iPhone or iPad as well. Starting with firmware updates that you really, really only should perform when connected to a strong and stable power source. I think Apple wouldn't want a million customers with bricked iPhones or iPads. And if Apple's engineers think they can pull this off without bricking any iPhone, then hopefully their manager asks them "so what makes you think you are smarter than the guys at Microsoft"? The Microsoft guys were quite sure they could do it, and they messed it up, twice.
Now we add that the size of an iOS update is quite big compared to most people's monthly 3G data allowance, and I think this is a pipe dream.
Unless it's an entirely new OS, like iOS 5 for example, it should be able to recognize what version your device is running and download only the essential features of the following update. Having to download the entire OS (which is over 600mb) every single time is a bit ridiculous.
Every time engineers are trying to be clever they run the risk of messing things up. Taking the old iOS, removing it completely, and installing a completely new, fresh iOS is safe and risk free. Trying to be clever and replace only the right things risks messing up things and leaving a very, very, very unhappy customer.

Not this crap about Obama being born in Kenya again!
