It is pretty pathetic that Apple still even sells a computer with a combo drive tho.... that really should be standard even in the $1099 model these days.
Other computer companies, such as Dell, still sell machines with only a combo drive, so it is not like Apple is so far behind the times. :rolleyes: :)

Anyone else think they'll probably rename the iPod touch to simply "iPod"? I think it makes sense, considering almost all of their products feature multi-touch technology at this point.

Now that the MBs have been updated and the US Apple Online Store is still down, I hope that the RAM prices have been cut. :rolleyes:
It sucks I gotta return my 4 day old MB for a new one but I would pay $140 more if it means getting a better MB that can last one more year (or more). :D

For Nintendo back in the 80's, there was massive outcry. Not only did they gatekeep but they had a high licensing fee and capped the number of releases per year per developer. So yeah, devs were pissed. Atari even lied to the patent office just so they could reverse engineer the lockout chip (and got sued for it).

There's another temperature monitoring utility, called appropriately enough, Temperature Monitor. I switched to it after CoreDuoTemp was flaking out on me. So far, it's given me pretty reliable readings. Maybe you guys should try that.
I'm pretty sure readings of 15C-19C are incorrect. I've NEVER seen or heard of modern laptop/desktop CPUs running that cool.
The lowest readings I've gotten on my laptop, from memory, would be low to mid 40s. It usually idles at mid-50s.
With regards to "pushing the machine = shutdown"... that's only somewhat true. Making both cores 100% cpu usage has been a way to trigger the random shutdown, but that doesn't make it the cause. I've had plenty of situations where my MacBook was idling and just turned itself off...

My 32GB ssd ipod mini is still going strong. These things last pretty well, so even if they discontinue them, buy one on ebay or something and it might last you until something else comes along.

Maybe the Facebook app will get better. Perhaps he was frustrated that someone kept pointing out all the problems with the app.

"Something in the air" was a popular phrase used in the 30's and 40's to describe radio... it became popular again with the advent of television and it denoted that there was something special being played on either radio or TV.... presenters on either medium would say when they were about to play a new track or introduce a performance; "There's something in the air"..... so from this I would suggest it has to do with Apple TV and maybe radio/TV for iPod / iPhone.... then again it could be a floating multi-touch keyboard !

Maybe it had nothing to do with money at all. Maybe "wife said no" because hubby is obsessed with gadgets and the Internet, and therefore pays no attention to wife, kids, dog or fish.
That said, Apple may not have necessarily helped with family by sending it back to hubby for free. All they did was undermine the wife's better judgment.

Now that Apple has consolidated the portable line on Intel C2D processors, the line between the pro and consumer models are diminished. Perhaps Apple should combine the two lines into one with 4 models across the line, employing an updated MB enclosure.

I have better things to do than rehash a situation that I have no control over. Especially a situation that gets rehashed on a biweekly basis by generally the same individuals.

Yup, most of the waste is for military technology and planes like the raptor that were built for cold-war style fighting. That era is dead. No offense intended, but that poster clearly has NO IDEA what the US uses its ridiculously large military budget for.
There's also the Airborne Laser, which was an utterly stupid idea. There's the virtual fence Boeing was paid to build to secure the US/Mexico border that never worked...

Well the looks and the battery life just led me to put in my order for a 2GB silver model :)
I can't wait for this thing to arrive and meet it's substantially larger sibling, (powerbook).
My only worry is that it won't work well in my nike+ armband, does anyone know if it does?

Adobe is not making any new fans with this scheme. I went from MX Studio 2004 to CS4 to CS5, and they cant even give me a free minor update? Either it it has enough new features to release it as a major update, or it doesn't.

In the end, it is all marketing... which is the case with most of Apple's products. They have been selling PC hardware now for years at a higher price than their competitors. Windows 7 isn't any worse (or better) than MacOS for browsing the web or checking email..... so its not the OS that is influencing soccer moms and emo kids to buy Mac either.

IMHO the white leaves different marks that are just as back...after awhile ull get a bunch of scuff marks that make the finish look more greyish brown...this is why i hated iBooks
