In addition to my promise to run around naked and post the video to the Internet if iMac gets Conroe, I will do the same if they introduce a phone at WWDC.
Not happening.
Not that I want to see you naked or anything, but I really want a Conroe iMac. Been putting off the intel iMacs for 8 months waiting for this update.

Haha, that's the best part. And it's so true! Walk your ass over to that girl and sit next to her and share your music with her. Screw this "beaming it over" nonsense.

If they are really smart (and the studios play ball, which is doubtful) they would go straight to 1080P.
I agree with you on the DVD quality. But could imagine how long it would take to downlaod a 1080p film? Days! The hard drive space would be another thing, it would be about 10 or 11 gigs for one film! At least. This is not going to be possible for at least 3 or 4 years I would say.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. Just as a test (not very scientific)... I went to the Apple Quicktime site and downloaded "The Queen" HD movie trailer at 1080P. Using an iBook connected to Airport Extreme wifi that's connected to an advertised 5-Mbps internet cable service, it took me about 5 minutes to download the 2-minute, 150-MB trailer. A little math tells me that a two-hour movie will take me about 300 minutes (5 hours) to download, and the size of the file will be about 9000 Mb in size.
To me that's not outrageous. However, it does mean planning ahead. I won't be able to start watching the movie five minutes after I've started downloading it. The real-time viewing will catch up to the download. I would need to give it about a four-hour head start.
No matter, my 1.33-GHz iBook isn't powerful enough to play 1080P HD movies without dropping frames and sound every few seconds. I think there are a lot of people in the same position as me. I cannot believe that Apple will offer just one level of movie quality. Just like what Apple currently offers on its movie trailer site, I'm guessing you'll be able to rent or buy 480P, 720P, or 1080P quality movies.
It took me just 50 seconds to download the same two-minute-long trailer at 480P quality. The size of the file is about 30 Mb. That means it will take me about 50 minutes to download the whole 1800 MB movie. At that rate, I can start watching the movie right away. My internet connection provides a download rate that is twice as fast as the movie viewing rate. That is exactly what I want. On impulse, I can be watching any movie I want within a few seconds. At full screen on my iBook, the 480P movie looks like I'm watching a rented DVD movie. The best part: No trips to incredibly annoying video stores.
I'm guessing the time it takes to download a 720P movie, and its file size, will fall somewhere halfway between the 480P and the 1080P movie.

Additionally, for the average person (who cannot read Hebrew and is not familiar with Jewish history and doctrine) it could be difficult to see the trinity in the old testament.
I'm a bit confused. How exactly does the context of the Old Testament point to a triune god? I've done a lot of academic study of the Tanakh in general, and Second Temple Judaism in particular, and I'm at a loss to where in Jewish orthodoxy the idea of a triune god exists.

I'm sorry, I would buy a iPad 3D, just so I could play Angry Birds in 3D. This coming from someone who vowed never to play nice with the Apple iEcosystem. But if Apple can do it, and HP/Palm and MS are nowhere in sight with their 3D tablets, well... iPad it is I guess.

Why are you guys all against 3D? I think its great, BUT I think its a given that you will be able to turn off the 3D.. And if that is the case then there is no problem really :P
That's not Apple's way, though. Apple doesn't make incredible new interface designs that will appeal to a few and can be turned off for the rest, or even appeal to most and be turned off for the rest. Apple's way is: we made it, it's awesome, 99.9% of people love it, and if you're one of the 0.1% that doesn't, find a knock-off that'll pop up within a year.
3D, however, in my opinion as well as that of many others, sucks. I'd say at best, 3D has 80% of people liking it, but I suspect it's closer to 30~40% of people like them.
I tried the 3DS at a Game Stop and all the 3D switch seemed to do for me was blur the screen / add a shimmery haze around it. It kind of hurt my eyes and nothing seemed to be any more... 3D than before. So 3D doesn't work, end of story, next rumor. Unless Apple has found a way. But I seriously doubt they have, because it seems like Apple rarely assembles the pieces of technology in-house... they're the ones who see how to put the pieces together in a beautifully simple way that makes intuitive sense to consumers.

I've been reading this forum for years and have found it interesting and helpful. Thank you everyone for help and opinions. I have never joined a forum of any type until now. Well, here it goes. For the first time I feel the need to put my 2cents in. I looked at this post and I really got angry. It's not even a iTunes thing for me but a "Wal-Mart is Evil Thing". This report is of no shock to me that some WM dude is threating retaliation. They do this every day by putting Mom & Pops out of business.

Thank you again. I feel better.
Now I hope to join everyone in future discussions.
Yes, Welcome!
I agree with you -- I have seen that PBS show. Walmart is a plauge.

IRONIC as facebook could clearly benefit themselves on a more strict app approval system. There's so much spam on there these days. People's accounts getting hacked, sending messages with trojan links to everyone.
And the iPhone app itself pretty much sucks anyway so a new developer would be a good thing
Yes, thank you for pretty much explaining the irony.
Facebook is currently a mess. People on my feed complain about changes every day and several had their accounts hacked into and were sending those viruses out. One day, I could only use Firefox to sign into Facebook. Safari wouldn't work at all. The next day, Facebook fixed it, but still, that's pretty bad.
Therefor, I'm glad Apple is being tough on Facebook.
Who the hell would want all those problems on their iPhone too?
I'm not defending the Apple submission process by the way.
Obviously, it has some issues, but I'm going to take Apple's side on this one considering how many problems Facebook has had recently.

yeah, using a third-party card AND driver software. stuff that 99.9% of macbook owners would never use anyway...if their goal was to show THAT a macbook could be hacked, they did show it. but they did not show that a macbook being used in a normal way using macbook drivers and hardware can be hacked. pretty piss-poor, IMO.

Ironic that FACEBOOK is one of websites that most often CRASHED Safari 4.0.3 OFTEN!
I'm not sure who's to blame for that, Apple or Facebook, but since many other websites don't crash Safari 4.0.3, doesn't this seem like the little stubborn child refusing to do his homework properly?
Btw, I've yet to extensively test Safari 4.0.4 on Facebook, but my past experience was that Facebook has always been buggy on Macs, and every new update to the site always seems to cause a Mac-specific problem.
I have never EVER had Facebook crash Safari. And I use Facebook heavily.
Sounds something is wrong with your setup or you just enjoy spreading FUD.

It's ridiculous how iPad 2's are still out of stock everywhere.
I went by on Friday morning to 2 Apple stores in my area (granted I live in the bay area). I went by at 8am and both had lines almost to 100 people. A week prior I had called and the stores were saying they only get like 10-20 a day and typically everyone buys 2 meaning only the first 5-10 get any. I'm surprised that many people were still in line.
I went by Target today and I talked to a friendly worker who basically told me they get shipments twice a week and they come it at night. He says sometimes people still line up in the mornings. He couldn't really give a consistent picture though.
I would order online but I need it for work and would like to get it within 2 weeks. Otherwise I'd order online and wait. This is so ridiculous!

So...are you on VZW? Do you actually have a care in this matter, or is it just another way to rant on others?
AT&T still has people on $30 unlimited because they are grandfathered in. So will VZW, if they actually change the plans.
umm no i'm grandfathered on att unlimited data plan.
Never ranted on anyone... he said
ATT fanboys always say "For now it's unlimited" as if VZW will really get rid o f unlimited
(I hadn't made any comment on the matter, but thanks for your concern)
I was simply letting him know that the reason other posters were saying this is because the CFO of verizon said it himself.
Can I help you with anything else Mr. forum police?

I enjoyed the new features. They seemed "meh" to me when I was reading the live transcript, but when I actually saw them they impressed me. Timewarp is so much more than "volume shadow copy" and Spaces is much more than "virtual desktops ala X11"
Anyway, this developer preview is suppose to have the 10 new features in it... does that mean it will have the new Frontrow and the new Photobooth? Because weren't they part of the "whole package" feature?
