Until Adobe can get FLASH working properly on Macs, why the hell would I want it on my damn phone?
On Macs, FLASH causes Safari 4 to crash often, is slow and downright buggy.
Some sites work fine, others crash the browser, often a reboot is required to get a Flash site working after a crash. This is all completely unacceptable in my opinion.
If your teenager crashed one of your cars, why the hell would you immediately give him the keys to another one?

I wouldn't expect a 'full changelog' from Apple given it isn't something that they really do - to the disappointment of many unfortunately.

I'd say that Verizon maybe blocking the update because they want to make sure that all hell doesn't break loose once it is released. It would be interesting to see what the justification is, maybe 5.0 will be the 'big change' for iOS on AT&T and Verizon phones?

I do wonder what their rational actually is - when they recompile the whole operating system they're unable to create a piecemeal patch (difference between the new version and old version)? Good question! I think it might have something to do with the fast changing nature of the development tools and libraries. Apples input would be nice but I doubt that will ever happen officially. I would like to see them move more of iOS's support apps to app store simply to get the smaller downloads. 600 MB isn't that bad compared to the 4+GB of XCode and XCode is crap.

Great, That's the guy who "redesigned" iMovie and screwed it up.
He's also the guy who designed FCP in the first place!
I edit professionally and I am stoked by what I have seen so far. Anything that makes my life easier is a good thing. I'm glad it is cheaper, although nothing has been said about the other apps such as STP and Motion, or even Color. As others have said, just because amateurs can afford the software, it doesn't mean that they can use it well.

I can't see wireless file sharing ever taking off, not person to person at least. It would be good for syncing with iTunes and good for headphones.
I can also see public download points working; go to a concert and they give you a free download, walk past an advertisement and it sends you the music from the tv ad for example.
Still not convinced the 'true' video iPod is on the cards, especially as he says music will be the centre point of the iPod for a while to come. Maybe when they can get decent battery life, maybe when they can make it as thin and attractive as the 5G iPod. Not sure I'd want one though, the current form factor of the iPod is perfect for me - even for watching video.
I can just imagine Bill Gates getting pissed over that interview, asking his pr advisers "why can't I ever be that cool?". Sorry Bill, it ain't never gonna happen.

Maybe a whole new kind of display using E ink. Sony has something called a Reader that uses it. It draws very little power, none at all if the background is static and unmoving.

As the chart shows, Apple's strongest market share quarter is the 3Q of each year. The interesting thing is that the 4Q has far less drop-off in market share this year.
That indicates to me that the new MBA pulled in sales from places other than the back-to-school crowd.
If things break well, Apple may now be above the 10% threshold in US market share every quarter going forward.

Are we under the assumption that the Lion upgrade will be $29?
I haven't been around for a release past Snow Leopard so I'm not sure what to expect.It'll be $129 — the same as ALL of the past upgrades except for Snow Leopard which was Leopard but just a slimmed-down, rewriting of the OS. Apple felt that without a lot of core new features being added, they would give the public a break and just charge a nominal fee for Snow Leopard, rather than the typical $129.
Don't listen to anyone who says differently. It will be $129.

I'm far less impressed with Apple and particularly its unwillingness to build in the U.S. Their products bear the label "Designed in California" for a simple reason. Their executives care little for this country as a whole and anyone who lives outside a few affluent enclaves on the West and East coasts. And they seem actually proud, inordinately so, of exploiting China's cheap labor. That's why "Designed in California" is followed by "Assembled in China." Snobs and serfs. That's their world.
Apple's unwillingness to build in the US? What company in the US has the manufacturing facilities of Foxconn? I agree it would be great if the devices were produced here, however supply would be much more constrained that it currently is.

If the movie store is announced on the 12th, I'm guessing the Aussie store will arrive some time in 2009 :) though maybe movies don't have as messed up distribution rights as music, but don't hold your breath.
I am not holding my breath, (i only have a ~3 breath anyway), if they have to talk to all of our movie corps, I don't like there chances...
But if there's anyone that can do it, Its Apple.

Toys R US is an odd distribution point, but genius from a marketing exposure point. It's going to get the Apple brand in front of a lot of families.
I think it's more odd that Toys R Us wants it. It's so far off their normal product type, but it could be that Toys R Us is looking for new segments to open in order to try and save their business????

It's not every Beatles song and they only have the publishing rights.
The (mechanical) rights to the Beatles recordings are totally separate and Sony/ATV has no control over these.
